Park's Out: Understanding the Impeachment [Timeline]
What began as allegations that South Korean President Park Geun-hye was helping a close confidante with no government position cheat major Korean businesses out of millions of dollars, snowballed into nationwide rallies and a real-time Korean drama you couldn't binge watch in one night. Park said, 'didn't do it.' But millions of protesters felt otherwise. In December 2016, South Korea's National Assembly voted to impeach her. On March 9, 2017, the country's Constitutional Court said, 'yup, agree' and sent Park home to her private residence. The drama isn't over yet, but we've compiled a multimedia timeline outlining the sequence of events that has led us to this point in time.
