If so, HKC is looking for a Copy Editor to join our team. Working in coordination with our Managing Editor, the Copy Editor will help our Content Creators present entertaining, informative content that challenge our readers. The ideal candidate is a strong editor who can work closely with our team to create and develop our content.
This position requires approximately 3-5 hours per week, and successful candidates will be able to make at least a six-month commitment to the role.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsible for two rounds of proofreading to ensure that written text is concise, consistent and both grammatically and factually correct;
Ensures that all the text uploaded on our website adhere to our editorial guidelines and writing style;
Works closely with Content Creators to offer suggestions on topics, headlines, and captions.
Eligibility and Requirements:
Interest in cross-cultural engagement, U.S.-Korea bilateral relationship, and Korean society;
Detail-oriented and deadline-driven with meticulous proofreading and fact-checking skills;
Strong communication skills to work as a team through online & offline meetings;
Experience in copy editing or proofreading for a magazine, newspaper, or website, etc;
Background in communications, journalism, English or related fields is preferred;
- Interest in or connection to Hawaii is a plus.
